I’ve been interviewing Charles Ng at San Quentin Prison where he is on Death Row.  He is now over fifty years old.  He has been in prison since 1985 and was found guilty of killing 11 people with Leonard Lake in 1984 — Lake took his own life rather than going to prison.   I have never met Charles Ng’s parents. I’m afraid that they are saddened and ashamed of how he had disappointed them with his behavior so they have lost face.  To the Chinese, losing face is everything and nothing to be taken lightly either.
