human trafficking

Bought and paid for.  This dirty practice is still going on.  Selling human flesh is really disgusting and so heartbreaking especially when it involves young children.  Imagine what you would feel like if you were being sold?   What is it that drives people to do this?  But what is really worse and downright cruel is when the person selling you is the very one that you love and trust so much.  Just imagine how devastating that would be.  This happens to two young girls, Sulan and May, in my novel, “The Jade Rubies.”  In 1915 they are sold in China and find themselves in Vancouver, Canada, subjected to every degrading indignity such as rape, torture and sexual abuse.  They are pawns in a grownup game but struggle to survive, even though they are prisoners in their Master’s house and tormented daily by their owner’s mean and sadistic wife.
